Lovely Things #5 – August 2015

Lovely Things

Hello and welcome to August’s Lovely Things Linky. Please help me share the love we’re growing month on month and the more the merrier. We had 10 link ups last month, so we’re getting more each month which is great. I’m really hoping we get even more in August. Also I must give a special thanks to the lovely Stevie from A Cornish Mum for listing this Linky as one of her favourites (you can read some of her others here)!

Please note this linky is now open for two weeks to give people more time to link up to it 🙂

Sport’s Day & The Summer Holidays

Sport’s Day

July saw my son’s very first Sport’s Day, proudly in the red team, he delighted us with obstacles, hobby horse and egg and spoon racing. At 3 it’s more about the taking part than winning, so everyone got a medal and certificate. But I think his face here just says it all :-).

Legoland

One of the best things we have done these last couple of years is buy season tickets for Legoland. Bought mostly with our Tesco Clubcard and Nectar points. Legoland Windsor is only about a 15/20 minute drive from me and with my children not yet in school there’s plenty of quiet term time days when we can make the most of all the rides – some days we can just walk on with no waiting around. Also to make things even more fun, a lot of our NCT friends have passes too, so we often have fun group outings to Legoland.

With the school holidays imminent we had one last group trip on the Friday before schools were out – we tend not to go in the school holidays as it’s often so busy and there is no need for us too. It was a wonderful sunny day and we had a great time. I hope we can squeeze in some more days out in September and October before it closes for the season. I have such, wonderful and fond memories of our days there.

An Afternoon with Dinosaurs

It’s not often I get much one on one time with my son. But this weekend we escaped for the afternoon leaving Aria at home with Daddy. Our local shopping centre had a visiting Stegosaurus that we need to go and meet. We had a lovely time. He helped me shop for bits for my new desk area – (which I love so much I am going to do a separate blog post on it) – and he got to meet the dinosaurs. Then he saw a toy Stegosaurus in a shop and I couldn’t resist buying it for him. He has carried it around with him ever since and even had indentations on his tummy this morning from where he had slept on it 🙂 .

Shiny New Technology

I also got some shiny new technology this month too. Firstly and perhaps not too exciting for some is my new printer. I have been getting by with one very kindly donated by my mother-in-law. As I need one with a scanner and copier for my business. It has certainly helped me out. But it is over ten years old and we have developed a bit of a love/hate relationship that printer and I, as it seems to chew every other piece of paper in the feeder up. After threatening to drop-kick through the window one day when I was doing my accounts and trying to print off a few invoices, my husband took pity and said for goodness sake order a new one. So I did. Hurrah!

My second shiny new technology is I upgraded my phone and for a new iPhone 6. I have the pink (naturally) iPhone 5c but I have found it really buggy of late, so I am grateful to have a new phone and also one with a better camera too. I have also, predictably ordered a Radley case to go with it.

That is my Lovely Things this month, tell me all about yours! x

  1. We went to Legoland last July too for my little man’s 5h bday, it was on a weekend so it was so busy, queues were really long, but it was still a fun day for him. That looked fun meeting the dinosaurs, your little boy seemed to have a fab day…. Great post! #lovelythings

    • Oh you should go it’s a fab day out. I lol’d a bit at the teen having to help you with yours – so far mine has been ok – but it does look it could easily have a mind of its own 🙂

  3. We haven’t gone to Legoland either but I really want to go as I know my 5 years old daughter will love it. If you don’t mind asking how much were the passes for Legoland and for how long? Just wondering if I should do the same. I like the name of your linky and your badge ;-), x
